The Text on the Discharge

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

 

Know Ye, That William W Kendall a Private of Captain Spearman, Company (A.) 25th Iowa Regiment of Infantry who was enrolled on the Ninth day of August one thousand eight hundred and sixty two to serve THREE YEARS, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States this 21st day of March 1863 at St. Louis Mo. by reason of Surgeons Certificate of Disability Chronic Diarhaea and general Debility extreme.

 

(No objection to his being re-enlisted is known to exist.*)

 

Said William W. Kendall was born in Cumberland in the State of Pennsylvania. is 35 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark complexion, hazel eyes, black hair, and by occupation when enrolled, a Nurseryman

Given at St. Louis, Mo. this 21st day of March 1863

* This sentence will be erased should there be anything in the conduct or physical condition of the soldier rendering him unfit for the army.
