Delaware Flats
Delaware Flats lies at the mouths of both the Swan River and Gold Run Gulch. It was founded during the winter of 1859-1860, and within a year there were a few hundred residents and a post office run by George Anderson (probably the one at Preston which was on the road between Gold Run and Breckenridge). A number of the Benjamin Bigelow Peabody family were associated with Gold Run:
| The Peabodys in Gold Run | ||
| Who | When | What |
| Lelon | abt. 1862 to late 1800s | Owned and operated a placer mine which he purchased from the naturalist Edwin Carter in 1863. Sometime within this period, he moved over Boreas Pass to Como where he also owned a placer mine. He was involved in the group which built the first Boreas Pass road and seems to have frequently commuted between Como and Gold Run. |
| Almeda | 1869/69 | She visited Lelon and was married by him to Henry Wagner. |
| Edwin | 1873 | He and his family moved from Michigan to Gold Run. They probably lived in a rough cabin similar to one of these: |
| Linnie May | 1877 | She was born in Gold Run. |
