Married August 18, 1899, in Junction City, Kansas, to
Nellie Campbell who was born March 30, 1879 in Tiocha Nevada. Her parents were
Scottish. She died April 3, 1962, in Junction City, Kansas and is buried in
Highland Cemetery at Junction City, Kansas.
Clarence worked as a gardener in Junction City most of
his life. He also worked for a time in the stone quarries, and as a butcher, but
is mostly remembered for his work as a nursery-man and gardener. He had ten
acres of fruit trees, grapes, strawberries, and vegetables. They resided for a
time on 11th street and later on 600 West 114th street. They had two children.

Clarence York, almost 80, and a Junction City resident
his entire life, died about 1 o’clock this afternoon at the City
hospital, where he had been a patient for several days. His health had
been failing for the past three months. Mr. York was a gardener in this
community his entire life and often was consulted because of his
knowledge of fruits and other growing plants. The son of Thomas and Naomi Brown York, who came here
from England, Mr. York was born March 1, 1872. He was 79 years, 11
months, and 13 days old at the time of his death. Besides the wife he is
survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles Fuller, who is here from her home
in Rawlins, Wyoming, and a son, Raymond York, of Junction City, and
three grand-children. Also surviving are a sister, Miss Nellie York, and
three brothers, George, Ed and Frank York, all of this city, and a half
brother, Harry York of Colorado Springs. Mr. York was a member of the Baptist Church. The body was taken to the Sawtell Funeral home. Funeral
arrangements will be announced later. |

Services for Clarence York were held this afternoon at1
2:30 at the Sawtell Funeral Home with the Rev. Donovan .1. Hinkson officiating. Mrs. Alvin Kirkpatrick sang and
was accompanied at the organ by Miss Doris Stendefer. Burial was in Highland cemetery. Pallbearers were James York,
Marvin York, Lou Sanders, George York, Jess
